About Phuong Ha

From libraries in Houston to an exhibition that spans countries, Phuong Ha is a storyteller at heart and a bridge-builder by trade. Equipped with a B.A. in Literature and Broadcast Journalism from the University of Houston, she’s spent her career weaving the threads of narrative, education, and cultural studies into programs and experiences that inspire, educate, and connect.

As a literacy advocate, Phuong has empowered over 20,000 students to discover the power of their voices through writing programs and publishing opportunities. Her current role as Senior Education and Outreach Manager at Asia Society Texas is an extension of this mission: she collaborates with educators and community stakeholders to make cultural studies accessible to learners of all ages. Whether she’s designing interactive graphic novels, curating online learning platforms, or moderating thought-provoking discussions with authors, Phuong’s work centers on amplifying stories that matter.

Highlights of her career include co-creating Explore Asia, Houston’s first permanent Asia-focused interactive exhibition, and producing fun webcomics for students on Adventures of Asia. She’s also spoken on panels like the BIPOC Book Fest and Houston AAPI Convention, championing representation and the power of storytelling in bridging cultural divides.

When she’s not curating programs or leading tours, Phuong can be found nose-deep in a book, plotting her next creative project, or dreaming up ways to make stories and culture come alive for the next generation.
